Day 0- Bone Marrow transplant day!

Today was a huge milestone in Skylar’s journey—she received her bone marrow transplant! We are so grateful for everyone who has supported us along the way. Your love and encouragement mean the world.

Around 2 p.m., Child Life came in to help us celebrate Skylar’s “BMT Birthday,” and she was all smiles. They sang a special “Happy BMT Birthday to You” song and brought a few sweet gifts to mark the occasion. Skylar loved them all—but her absolute favorite? The green gift bows from the bag! 😂 She’s still wearing them proudly, and it’s honestly the cutest thing.

A heartfelt thank you to Little Wishes for making the day feel so joyful and special for her.

At 3 p.m., the doctors brought in the cells. It was a large infusion bag, and the process took over six hours through IV. A nurse stayed in the room the entire time to monitor everything closely. Skylar did really well for most of it, but near the end, her cheeks turned bright pink and blotchy—something we were told to expect, and thankfully, it was managed. Our donor was a 31 year old stateside women and her cells were flown in this morning. I hope we are able to reach out to her someday and personally thank her!

We are feeling hopeful and deeply thankful today. One step closer.
