Today, Skylar started to mellow out. She’s been sleeping more and keeping mostly to herself. The morning was rough—she threw up a few times, a reminder of how tough this process is on her little body.
Grandpa came to spend time with her, which gave me the chance to step outside and take a short hike. A little breath of fresh air did wonders.
Back in her room, Skylar spent most of the day quietly flipping through her little photo book. She kept signing “jump” over and over again, eyes lighting up each time. She was asking—pleading, really— for me to drive her to the trampoline park. It broke my heart.
Later that night, once she finally fell asleep, I saw her hands move gently as she continued signing “jump” in her dreams.
This girl misses her trampoline park. More than anything, she just wants to bounce again.
